Congratulations to Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Conway for recently receiving awards from the Illinois Principals Association! Mrs. Bowman received the Central Illinois Valley ‘Reaching Out and Building Bridges’ award through the IPA! This award is designed to recognize a principal and an agency who have displayed an outstanding effort in creating a partnership that has a positive impact on the school and community. Branches of Washington is a new organization formed in 2024 to support students and families in Washington. Mrs. Bowman worked with Branches at Washington to get the care closet program up and running at Lincoln Grade School this fall. Through the care closet, students in need have access to free clothing, toiletries, and breakfast/snack items. This partnership and program have been invaluable for our students at Lincoln Grade School this year. Mrs. Conway received the Central Illinois Valley ‘Herman Graves’ award! This award is considered the highest honor through the IPA and is awarded to those with a minimum of 7 years of service to the organization. The award is reflective of specific accomplishments and contributions to IPA and the demonstration of a positive impact on education and advocacy for children.

November 15th marks the official statewide observance of School Board Members Day in Illinois. Each year, this day is an opportunity to show support for our board of education and the individual school board members who are committed to providing a local voice for your educational decisions. School board members are volunteers serving as advocates striving for quality education opportunities for every student. Our board members act as front-line advocates providing a local voice for the community, a vision for the district, and a pathway to success for our students. The men and women serving WGSD #52 are David Robinson, President; Maggie Mose, Vice President; Jessica Leach, Secretary; and Board Members Dan Baker, Tim Custis, Katie Heinold, Whitney Klinke. Thank you for all you do!
