SOCIAL STUDIES

Explicit Social Studies content and skills are taught in Grades 4-8. Grades 6-8 are transitioning to the new IL Social Science Standards, which are based on the C3 Framework for Social Studies (College, Career, and Civic Life). The new standards are more skill based, such as inquiry skills. Disciplinary concepts include Civics, Geography, Economics, and History. In Illinois, specific curriculum is determined by required mandates. Grades 4 and 5 focus primarily on Geography and History in the United States.  Grade 6-8 focus on Geography, Civics, Economics, and History in the United States and throughout the world.
