4th grader students in Mrs. Cuevas's and Mrs. Chiaravalle's ELA classes just wrapped up their Eureka Student Inventors unit! During this unit, students researched famous inventors and inventions, worked together to brainstorm ideas, and created their own original inventions complete with a final pitch presentation. We are so proud of their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Today we celebrate our incredible school bus drivers who safely transport our students each day with care, patience, and dedication. Rain or shine, early mornings and long afternoons, they are often the first smile our students see and the last wave they receive before heading home.

Thank you to our bus drivers for keeping our students safe, supported, and on time. Your commitment makes a difference in the lives of our families and school community every single day.

Please join us in thanking our amazing bus drivers during Bus Driver Appreciation!

First graders celebrated National Schwa Day today! To make it extra fun, students wore their pajamas—because the schwa is known as the “laziest” sound in the English language.
So what is a schwa? It’s a relaxed vowel sound that can sound like /uh/ or /eh/ and can be made by any vowel when it appears in an unstressed syllable (like the a in about or the e in taken). It might be small, but it’s an important part of becoming a strong reader and speller!

Try this at home: Say these words and see if you hear the schwa sound—panda, banana, pencil, lemon, and album.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of literacy activities to practice identifying and using the schwa sound. We loved celebrating this tricky (but important!) phonics skill in such a cozy and memorable way!
