SOCIAL EMOTIONAL

District 52 addresses the IL Social Emotional Standards using the Second Step curriculum in Grades K-8. With age-appropriate lessons, the Second Step Program for K-5 features catchy songs, fun games, and other engaging activities that develop social-emotional skills. Children learn how to make friends, manage their emotions, solve problems, and deal with peer pressure. These lessons are taught a few times a week. At LGS, these skills are included in the morning announcements each day.

Second Step for Grades 6-8 is a program that helps build a culture of connectedness and empowers middle schoolers with the skills and concepts to succeed socially, in academics, and in life. In Grades 6-8 Second Step is used during an extended PAWS period each week.
