Adventures In Reading...the new AR!

Most students will be enrolled in Adventures in Reading! (AR) for one nine week grading period. Students meet five days a week. Each student has an individual AR point goal which is determined from the AIMS web test that is taken at the beginning of the school year. During one week, a book will be read out loud to the students and may use that quiz towards their overall AR goal. During that time all questions and answers to that quiz will be asked and answered for them. However, each student will still need to take that quiz to determine how many points will be awarded to them.

Each student will be required to read one of the following genres in addition to the books of their own choosing; comic book, non-fiction, poetry, myth or fable. After they read each of those, they will fill out a questionnaire, which will be worth two AR points...even though they do not have to take a quiz for that book.

This year we are encouraging students to READ WHAT THEY WANT...I am getting creative in helping them still get points even when a quiz is not available for a book they wish to read. Please have your student see me before they start reading a book that does not have a quiz so I can shown them what they need to do to earn points for that book.

The grade is this class will be taken into consideration for the high honor and honor roll awards. Please encourage your child to read at home when he/she is enrolled in Adventures in Reading!
